lack of posts

yeah i know it's been awhile since i posted. i don't know what's gotten into me lately but i just never feel like posting here. perhaps it is because i am on facebook so much, i feel almost as though if i say something there, and then post here, i am repeating myself. maybe it's because life has been a tad boring lately (or at least boring in terms of talking about it). while i certainly don't mind spending my days knitting, getting ready for shows, etc. i have to admit it i don't think it always makes for thrilling reading.

so what have i been up to?
well knitting.....my fall craft show season is almost here in full force so i am trying to fatten up my inventory as much as i can (esp since i am doing a number of new shows that are big and back to back). not that i expect to sell out at a show but seriously, if i make a big dent in my inventory at one show, than have another big one a week later, i might be screwed. so the thought is that if i make sure i have alot of inventory, even if i sell alot i will be ok for the next show. yeah, i will have to go full speed during the week restocking but it won't be where there i am at the next show with something like 3 hats, a couple of scarves and one pair of baby booties. because that would be quite bad - like not making your booth fee bad.

i got new camera last week. i have been very unhappy with my "newer" camera i got lst year (a nikon) for awhile now. the pictures, no matter how i tinkered with the settings always came out very bright or washed out. and forget about closeups. not good considering 80% of the photos i take are of work related items, where i need good color and closeups. i had this ancient fujifilm camera that worked great but was very clunky and somewhere along the way i scratched the lens a little. add to that it was 3mp and you can see why i'd need a new camera. i thought the 6mp nikon would do it but more and more i was just so unhappy with it. finally i had enough and decided to get a new camera. i found a very reasonable fujifilm (i figured the last one worked so good, why mess with another brand i didn't know?). it's 12mp and has some cool settings. and thankfully, i can say it takes great pictures. so i am a happy camper now with much better pictures.

that's all for now. but i will try to post more here.

caprica
i am so watching this show, if for no other reason:

(from ew)
"Caprica exec producer Jane Espenson is using her powers as a charter member of the Whedonverse for good. Sources confirm to me exclusively that Buffy all-star James Marsters is joining the Battlestar Galactica prequel for a sizable arc."

movies #22 - #37

it's been awhile since i posted what i've been watching.....

22. Babylon AD – ok this was kind of a weird movie. I liked the people in it. but honestly, I have no idea what the point of the movie was at all. It just made no sense to me at all. I’m sure glad I just put it on to past the time late one night….otherwise I would have been annoyed I wasted my time on this lame movie.

23. Fast & the Furious – I liked the original. Was bored by the sequel. Skipped the third one. But with the whole crew from the first one coming back for this one, I had a little hope that it wouldn’t suck. Nope, it sucked. Boring! I had to force myself to finish this yawner. I should have just passed on this one.

24. Killer Hair - this was a fun and flirty made for tv movie. Yes, it was predictable but I really enjoyed the lead of this movie. I think I may have to check out the book this was based on at some point. Just some fun frothy fun.

25. Hostile Makeover – just like “killer hair”, I enjoyed this made for tv movie.

26. Meteor (2 parts) – not a horrible made for tv miniseries movie, just not a great one. Kind of predictable but oh well. I do enjoy those end of the world, disaster kind of made for tv movies.

27. Storm (2 parts) – this was actually a good made for tv miniseries movie. It wasn’t predictable at all. In fact, I was surprised in a number of places, especially in terms of who died and when. Would I watch it again? No probably not. But I enjoyed watching it nonetheless.

28. Maneater (2 parts) – another fun made for tv movie. Yes, I didn’t appreciate the obvious product ad in the middle of the movie for lotion but oh well. Sarah Chalke was very appealing as the lead. Not the best made for tv movie but it passed the time pleasantly.

29. Push – I didn’t hate this as much as I thought I might. I had heard it was a very boring film. It wasn’t that bad. Yes, it wasn’t a great movie by any stretch of the imagination but definitely not that bad. I wish it was a little easier to follow.

30. Princess Protection Program – this was a cute Disney film. Not challenging, not that plausible but oh well. Sometimes it’s nice just to shut off the brain and watch a wholesome movie. The stars were very appealing I have to say.

31. He’s Just not that Into You – I was prepared to hate this movie. And surprisingly, I didn’t. I actually liked it. I found it charming. And even more surprisingly, Jennifer Aniston managed not to annoy me (which she normally does). Ginnfer Goodwin was really lovely in this movie. I was interested, I wanted to see what happened and I enjoyed this movie.

32. Bride Wars – this was a boring movie. I did not enjoy this at all. There was nothing plausible or pleasant about it. Definitely a flick one should skip.

33. Battlestar Caprica – I wanted to like this but it bored me. I will give the show a chance when it airs but honestly, as much as I liked the talent they had and how much I wanted to like it, I really felt like I was forcing myself to finish watching this.

34. Quantum of Solace – I am not what you call a Bond aficionado but I did enjoy the last Bond movie. This one however, left me cold. It was just blah and kind of boring.

35. True Women – this was an ok made for tv movie miniseries. I thought I saw this years ago but just didn’t remember anything about it. I was honestly pretty surprised that Angie Jolie was in this. I liked Dana Delany a lot so I enjoyed her performance. This movie was kind of preachy at times and a bit melodramatic but overall not the worst made for tv movie. And considering so many westerns and frontier movies are all about the men, it was nice to see one with more of a female perspective.

36. The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas – oh my god was this a horrible movie. I can’t believe I was able to sit through the whole movie. I love Dolly but was this bad. The songs weren’t even that great to make it worth it.

37. Nights in Rodanthe – this one was a lot better than I expected. I think a lot of that is owed to Diane Lane. Because as predictable and saccharine as this movie was, she really made it watchable.

tickets

well today was busy - i got tickets for two shows that i am pretty excited to go see. the first is for debbie reynolds. i don't care if i am the youngest person by 30 years there....i am excited to see someone who i consider an icon perform. she was in one of my fave musicals "singing in the rain". and she was charlotte in "charlotte's web". i have always enjoyed her to be honest (i might be one of the 5 people who liked "connie and carla"). and hey, she's princess leia's mom - ha! how can you beat that? but in all seriousness, i am pretty excited. i expect her to put on a great show.
the other show i got tickets for was placebo at house of blues. i haven't been to that venue in ages but i have always enjoyed shows there though (drovers and veruca salt were the last 2 i saw there). it should be a fun show. placebo is one of those bands that i have wanted to see live for awhile now so i am glad i will have the chance. sadly, another band on the top of the "i really want to see" list, she wants revenge, is coming to town too but is playing at the dreaded vic so i won't be going to that one.
on a related topic, i saw there are some bands i might want to go see at the bottom lounge,. i've never been there before but it is quite close to my hairdresser so i am kinda familiar with the neighborhood. i might have to go check out a show or two there this next month.

i miss going to shows like i used to.....i used to go all the time but nowadays i get scared off by a lack of parking, late late show times and such. (i finally broke down after the last show i went to and the subsequent hearing loss and bought some earplugs for shows). yes i am old. i can admit that. but i think i need to shake myself out of this "old woman" mindset and just get back to going to more shows. because i miss going to shows alot. collecting live recordings of bands (which i still do), while wonderful as a hobby, doesn't give the same kinda thrill as going to a show in person gives.

i swear i'm not dead

i don't know, i guess i just haven't felt like posting lately. i won't lie, i've been kinda blah lately. i feel some days like i m just floating from crisis to crisis, problem to deal with to problem to deal with - you get the idea. other days are fine, but nothing special. i think i need to just regroup and figure out what i am doing and maybe make some course corrections. of course, easier said than done.

craft show season is also rapidly approaching so my usual procrastination and ensuing panic is probably adding to my blah mood. i am trying to get organized too at the same time as i am making and cataloging new product (and getting it up on the website). lots of work.....

i guess that's about it. i will try and post more often. hopefully i can snap out of this funk soon.

i want to complain

so this afternoon i was hungry. and tired. i really just wanted a burger that wasn't from mcdonalds, burger king or buona beef (nothing against them, i just wanted something different). as i was tired, i didn't want to drive very far so i looked on yelp and metromix for a place that had burgers near me. assembly is right by me and admitedly has good burgers but they are pricey and the only time i was there they were really rude so i wasn't going to go back there. so looking i found this place called "apple villa" in hoffman estates. they are a breakfast kinda place but their website said they had char grilled burgers. they even had a burger with avocado on it. hmmm i thought, this might be good. so i went there. oh my goodness, it was not good at all.
so i ordered a bacon cheeseburger. i tell the waitress i don't want the lettuce and tomato on it but instead i want avocado. she goes, very curtly, "we can't do that. my manager won't let me." i am totally confused as there is a burger right on the menu with avocado. she repeats herself again. um ok. so i go "i don't have a problem paying for the avocado if that's the problem". she goes "yeah you are going to have to pay for it". wow, i wasn't expecting something for free. but i was expecting a burger the way i want it, without an attitude. she could have nicely said "the avocado costs extra". in the back of my mind i was thinking, uh oh, i think i made a bad choice in places to eat. oh i had that one right. so my food comes out. i take a bite. not good. the burger is as bland as bland can be. really, mcdonald's burgers have more flavor and char grilling to them. they were very stingy with the cheese - it didn't even look like there was a full slice on there. not cool. and than the bacon - i can't remember ever taking bacon off something i ordered, putting it to the side and leaving it there. but i did today. the bacon was thick (which is not a bad thing normally) and very hard. on the plus side, the avocado was good and generous but it didn't help the bland burger at all. to top that off, the service was slow.
so i am not a happy camper. i didn't not satisfy my burger cravng at all (since this one was crappy) and i am crabby to boot. granted maybe it's my fault for going to a mostly breakfast place and ordering a burger but if it is that bad, they shouldn't have it on the menu. and in fairness, i have been to other breakfast places and ordered non-breakfast items and have been fine. i think if you say something is char-grilled, it should be char-grilled. and not have a crappy attitude toward your customers. definitely a place i am not going to be going back to.

ok, this is a little better

from e news tonight.... in regardsto paula abdul and her being addicted to pain killers and going to rehab.

Added Abdul in a statement today: "I want to make it perfectly clear to everyone that I have never been addicted to or abused drugs in my life," Abdul said. "I have never been drunk. I have never entered a rehab or detox treatment center.
"I spent time hiking, bicycling, doing yoga and enjoying the spa. As anyone who has visited the La Costa Resort knows, it is a luxury hotel, not a rehab facility."

of course, it doesn't take away the fact she said going to spiritual workshops helped cure her rsd but i guess baby steps right?

star trek

i cannot lie, i am really looking forward to this movie. friday cannot come soon enough if you ask me. i've been trying not to read too much about it but the fact that i just found out i get a double dose of spock in this movie - well seriously, i might end up squealing in the movie theatre. feel bad for my poor dad who is going to be sitting next to me.
adding to my excitement is the fact that burger king just released "star trek" glasses. i love it!! they are very much like the "star wars" glasses of my childhood. i have a number of those kinds of novelty glasses - like care bears and snoopy. so this is a very cool addition to my collection. i am thinking though i might just need an additional full set of spock glasses..... hmmm.... anyway, i went out monday and got my kirk glass. my dad, being the very cool dad he is, went out that night and got me the uhura and spock ones. so all i am missing is the villian one but i will wait to see the movie to see if i like his character enough to get his glass (although i am leaning towards having a full set regardless).
what can i say? it doesn't take much.....

movies #19 - #21
ii feel like i have been going to alot of movies lately (thanks to free popcorn wednesday, am cinema and some amc gift certificates my dad gave me) but i have no idea why i haven't blogged about what i have seen lately though.....

19. dragonball evolution - ok i admit it, one of the only reasons i went to see this is because the actor who played spike on "buffy" was in it. i know, not a good reason. the day i went to see this though i just needed a distraction and i have to say, this movie did the trick. i have never seen or read the source material for this movie so maybe the stuff that would bother other people just didn't bother me. this was a good, mindless, fluffy popcorn kinda movie - it kept my attention more than i expected it would and i liked it more than some of the other movies i would put in the same category. i thought the actors were good in their parts. and the geek i am, i liked that jamie from "real world" and that "samurai girl" movie i liked so much was in this. frankly, i would have really liked her role to be bigger and wished there was more for her to do. i didn't like emmy rossum as much - or at least her character. less screen time for her would have been fine. so this one didn't suck and it distracted me nicely.

20. 17 again - i actually really enjoyed this movie. no, i am not a woman who squeals when zac efron takes off his shirt (and thankfully there were none of those kind of girls/women in the audience when i went to go see this) so some of the appeal of this movie was perhaps lost on me, based on the number of times he ended up going shirtless in this movie. but what did appeal to me was just how easy and charming his performance was. i really liked him in this (and no, not for his shirtlessness). yeah the story wasn't the strongest but it's not as though walking into this film, i was expecting an oscar winning story. i have seen a number of these age switching kinda stories and i have to say, i liked this one more than most of the others (hello freaky friday with lohan - now that's good stuff! ). i thought they did some clever takes on the genre (like making efron's best friend pose as his dad and be this super rich geek who has a thing for principal). and i have to admit, spoiler alert i was sad to see efron go at the end of the movie. oh and it didn't hurt buffy's little sister dawn (michelle t) was in this movie although i did feel like her character, well there was something that was just not right about her. was she trying to be a goth? was that it? anyway, it was an enjoyable movie.

21. wolverine - being that i am a fan of xmen and the xmen movies i was looking forward to this. here's the deal, i liked it. i didn't like it as much as i did the other xmen movies. i wonder in part if that was because there were less mutants i knew well or liked in this one. perhaps. the action was good, there's no denying that. and i enjoyed seeing the origin of wolverine. i thought jackman did a great job but liev schreiber who played his brother - now he was absolutely excellent! i will tell you this, the one mutant i did not enjoy was the one ryan reynolds played. (spoiler alert) he was fine in the beginning, although he really just reminded me of the character he played in "blade 3". but the character he becomes, after stryker "expeimented" on him, ugh! he really just creeped me out with those big eyes and sewn closed mouth. i just read that this character is getting his own movie - that will be one i can skip. i was thinking when i was watching it "oh i hope i don't get nightmares from this guy!" s yeah, i liked this movie but honestly, it was kinda forgettable. not my favorite entry in the xmen series. but i am sure i will see it again when it comes out on dvd.

now i just want to straight up smack her

i just read this on people.com about paula abdul
"Thanks to her 15th surgery, yoga and spiritual workshops, she says she feels 96 percent better. "

she is so full of shit. i am sorry i just have to say that. you can't just have an operation and meditate and poof! your rsd is gone. it just doesn't work like that. yes, you can go into remission with your rsd but everything i have ever read, it doesn't happen because you do yoga. ugh! i am just absolutely disgusted right now.

paula abdul pisses me off
no this has nothing to do with american idol. this has to do with paula abdul and her admission today that she went to rehab.

a few years back, paula came out with the fact that she has RSD (reflex sympathetic dystrophy) which is a neurological condition that roughly is like a really nasty chronic pain syndrome (and i am really putting that really simply). so at the time she talked about this 'miracle' injection she was getting to deal with the pain - this injection was experimental and very expensive but if it was working for her, good for her. most people suffering from RSD can't get that kind of relief and spend every waking day in horrible pain.

so than i read this today on perez hilton:

"The cover article discusses how, in an effort to keep on keeping on in the business, she turned to painkillers and Chinese medicines to get her through her dance routines and tours. Because of her strenuous lifestyle, (constantly touring, shooting videos, etc,) by 2005, she was diagnosed with a chronic pain condition called reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome. The illness and pain were so severe that Paula was given a patch to wear that delivered medication about "80 times more potent than morphine."....She would also be known to take muscle relaxers and nerve medication, all to deal with the pain. The article states that "It was a combination of these factors that may have led to the impression that she was high at times when she was on the air."....As of last Thanksgiving, when she checked herself into La Costa Resort and Spa, in Carlsbad, California, she has weaned herself off of any medication."

why would this piss me off? first off, i feel quite strongly that a person who is in intense pain and takes pain killers to help function and deal with the pain, is by no means an addict. they are taking medication to help control a situation that without the medication, is unbearable. that is if they are lucky enough to find something that helps. and by her going "oh i am off drugs now and everything is peachy keen!" well, that really belittles those people suffering with this horrible disease. it just, in my opinion, gives those people who believe that RSD and the pain it causes is no big deal or all in that person's head, some kind of "proof", however wrong that might be. i can just hear them saying "see paula abdul got over her pain - you just need to focus and get over yours. there's nothing really wrong with you."

at first i was excited she came out with the fact she had this disease. RSD is a highly misdiagnosed, not well known disease. but now i wish she would just shut her damn mouth because really, she does those really suffering with this disease, a real disservice.

movies #16 - #18

16. duplicity - i really like julia roberts and clive owens. so i wanted to like this movie. it's not that i didn't like it but i don't know, looking back at it, it was just kinda ho-hum. they were cute together, the movie was fine but it was missing that spark i guess. maybe i was expecting more, i don't know. but it just kinda missed the mark. like i said, not a bad movie, just not a great one. definitely put it in the "to rent' pile if you haven't seen it. it will kill some time on a rainy sunday.

17. knowing - if you like science fiction, run, don't walk, and go see this movie. i have to say, this is honestly, one of the best science fiction movies i have seen in a long time. now i had heard bad things about it and thought the commercials looked totally cheesy so i was planning on avoiding this movie. and than i read roger ebert's review which raved about this movie and i decided, however hesitantly, to go see it (because lately, ebert and i have been on the same wavelength). i even ended up dragging my dad and we both loved it. this movie had everything - good plot, good action, and good acting. i was riveted and cared about what was happening and i was entertained and it made me think. i was honestly surprised with how good it was. now i can see how it could get some bad reviews - it moves a little slow at first and if you aren't a fan of science fiction you might be going "come on now!". but i mean it, if you like good science fiction, you must go see this movie!

18. i love you man - this was another movie i probably wouldn't have seen without a push from roger ebert. i really enjoyed this movie, definitely more than i thought it would. yes it was funny but it was also really sweet. and didn't just play into typical stereotypes. i thought it really portrayed real people/real emotions. there was even a gross out kinda scene and i was ok (normally those kinds of scenes make me hate a movie but this one, i have to admit, made me chuckle a little). is it the best movie i ever saw ? no. but it made me laugh when i was watching it at parts and smile later when i thought about it. and i thought everyone in it just played their parts to perfection. a very enjoyable movie.

joys in my life
ok those who know me well know it doesn't take much to make me happy. (or to entertain me for that matter....when i was a kid you could just give me a roll of tape and some paper and i would be entertained for hours. a perk i suppose of being an only child). anyway, as of late there are some things that have been making me pretty darn happy and i thought i would share....

the library - years ago i had gone to the library to take out cds and they seemed to only have one or two crappy bands, nothing much i was interested in. well, that's not the case anymore. i went there on a lark a few weeks back and was shocked at the selection of music they had. shocked to the point that i caught myself saying "whoa, you have that cd?". i was honestly impressed. whoever they have ordering cds wasn't just getting the new kelly clarkson and calling it a day. so i ended up taking out a bunch of cds that day, excited at the prospect of all the new music i was going to hear - music that was on my wishlist to buy/download or just stuff that i had on cd once and now i can't find the discs but wanted to hear. i was happy but little did i know, my joy was going to increase. i found out that my library - and forgive me, i am still giddy just talking about this - you can go online and if the cd is checked out, you can put a hold on it. than when it comes in, they put it to the side, call you to tell you it's in, and then you can just go to the holds area and pick it up. that is so freaking awesome!!!!!! no looking for cds, no trying to time in when they are reshelved and hoping you can get it at some point. it is just waiting there for you to come in.....sigh, i love my library! i can't even begin to calculate in the last few weeks how much i have saved on cds.

the movies - i love going to the movies. it is such a relaxing experience and it doesn't hurt that i love popcorn either. well my local movie theater has always been kinda awesome in my opinon. it's big, clean and has lots of amenities that i really appreciate (good parking, etc). they also have this thing called "am cinema" where if you go on a friday, saturday, sunday or holiday before noon, the movie is only $6 (it used to be $5 which i liked better but oh well). so i go to alot of movies with the am cinema. they also have a deal where everytime you go to the movies, you get points with their "movie watcher club" and the more points you accumulate, you get free stuff like movie tickets, popcorn or drink. so that's pretty cool. than on one day during the week they normally have free small popcorn day where you get a free small popcorn or if you want a larger size, you just pay for the upgrade. all good deals in my opinion. well recently, my dad ended up turning in some of his rewards with his credit card into gift certificates to the movie theater (thanks dad!). since they are good for one free ticket and i am thrifty, i refuse to use those for anything but evening shows where tickets cost $10.25. well last night, it was free popcorn wednesday and i used one of my tickets and went to a 930 show. i am pretty much only used to going early on the weekends, where you have to contend with noisy old people and unruly kids (not all kids are unruly but the ones that go to the movie always seem to be the run around everywhere, scream and talk kind) and those people who bring their own food and crinkle the bags and just annoy me. logically, i get why the theater was pretty empty - i mean who takes their kids to a weekday 930 show and most adults wont go out that late on a work night. but oh my, i loved it. it was on the empty side and no loud old people. no kids. it was a nice quiet audience, i got good parking and i got free popcorn (well i just paid for the upgrade anyway). i never thought i would go to a $10.25 movie without a ticket or coupon but i have to say, i think in the future i might go to a movie than, instead of the early show. it was so worth it.

movie #15

oopsie, forgot one....

15. the last templar - this was another one of those kinds of movies where afterwards i was like "i must go get the book this was based on". again, my love of made-for-tv movies might be showing through but i thoroughly enjoyed this mini-series. it was like an indiana jones but with a woman....i know, that's a lame description but oh well. anyway, i thought mira sorvino was great in this and the story and the action kept it moving. i am wondering if they are going to do a sequel....i think they should. i have yet to read the book but it is sitting in my massive to read pile.

movies #11 - #14
ok so i have been very remiss in keeping track of my movies as of late. so i am sure somewhere in here i have forgotten a few. i really need to a. watch more movies and b. keep track of them......

11. eagle eye - this was one of those movies where you go eh, not that bad. but would i see it again? nope. and i am glad i didn't pay to see it in the theatre. interesting premise. like that it was shot in chicago (in part). but that's about it off the top of my head. it seemed like a long movie to me. i kept checking the time, wondering when it was going to be over. not a good sign.

12. the incredible hulk - i hated the last incredible hulk movie. i seriously was left scratching my head after going "uh what the hell?". so i was a little wary of this one. but i have to say, i liked it. granted i like edward norton alot. but still, i thought it moved along pretty well. and the story didn't suck. it wasn't my fave super hero kinda movie but it didn't suck so that's an accomplishment all in itself, especially considering how bad the first one was.

13. high school musical 3 - ok i loved this one. seriously, i thought it was good. maybe that makes me a tween girl at heart, i don't know. but i thought it had the same energy and fun that the first one had. i didn't like the second one in this series because i felt like the songs and the story fell flat. but this one kept my interest and i thought the songs and the dancing were great. honestly, i am looking forward to seeing this and the first one again in a little tween marathon. ha! although i will admit i don't get why young girls get in such a lather and scream when they see zac efron. i mean he's cute but not that cute that you need to lose your shit over him...... hmmm. but if you like frothy, fun muscials, than this is defintiely a good choice for you.

14. religiculous - i wanted to like this movie. i really did. i love bill maher. i love discourse on religion and such. but frankly, this movie bored me to tears. i could barely pay attention. i don't know what i was expecting but for whatever reason, this movie just did not do it for me.

I tried to watch igor the other night and ended up turning it off about 30 minutes into it. great premise. fantastic animation (reminded me of nightmare before xmas). but when they had the creation eva be an "actress", they lost me. i thought i would love this one. man i am glad i didn't buy it first!!!

so two new tori amos tracks have leaked, from her upcoming album "abnormally attracted to sin" and i have to admit, i am getting super excited about this cd. the two tracks sound great. for the most part, her last album left me a little cold. but these new tracks remind me of "choirgirl" which i really love. so yay! now all she has to do is go out and tour and do a kick ass job. better than her last tour at least. i was so disappointed thelast go around. i left the concert feeling underwhelmed....this was the first time i have seen her that it just didn't feel magical(and i have seen her something like 13-14 times and have a bunch of live dvds and a sick amount of live shows of hers on cd). the whole show felt i don't know, forced or something like that. so here's hoping this go around is much better. and that she plays a venue i like (please please no millenium park! if you want to go outside, do navy pier again. i saw aimee mann there and it was fantastic!!!)

embracing my new found status as not being restrained, i am delighted that the douchebag is going to have to take care of the damages his big stupid diesel truck has caused to my lawn and his driveway. i hope it costs a crazy amount of money and the people doing the repairs gouge him for every penny.

further proof my neighbor is a complete douchebag
now if turning my lawn orange wasn't enough (thanks to him spilling diesel fuel on my lawn) my neighbor is at it again with his douchy behaivor.

last night when i went to the library i noticed that he had some packages in between his screen and front door. i didn't think anything of it honestly as even douches are allowed to get packages. so today i was coming back from my errands and i notice there are two white bags on his lawn, just thrown there, kinda by his front door. i thought it was odd and wondered what they were. i stopped in my driveway and took a closer look. on the side of one of them were red letters which i eventually made out to spell "avenue". and than i realized it....those were MY packages thrown on his lawn. i stopped my car and rushed over to them and sure enough, my name and address right on them. ohhhhh i started to steam. he couldn't walk the what, two feet to throw them on my stoop??? nope, the douchebag just threw them on the lawn, probably hoping someone would steal them or something like that.

you know lately i have been trying to be more tolerant of his crappy behavior, trying to hold back and not call the cops EVERY time he plays his music loud or runs that damn truck for more than 15 minutes.....but i think the days of me being tolerant are over. after all, he couldn't even be bothered to throw my packages on my lawn or stoop. so i guess i can't be bothered to show some restraint. too bad for him.

kibbles and bits

so i have been bad about posting - i know this. so here are some things that are running around in my head....

* rhianna and chris brown - i cannot believe the two of them are back together (if all my gossip rags are reporting right). if she took him back, well i take back all the good things i said about her being a role model to girls. he beat the crap out of her and she's taking him back? hell no! that's just stupid. once a punching bag, always a punching bag in cases like this. i don't care how much you like or love a person there is no reason for them to beat you up and for you to take them back!

*seattle - thanks to my astonishing bad luck and a man at pt who couldn't cover his mouth while coughing (hello lack of manners man!) i got sick last week. and my trip to seattle this week had to be postponed : ( i am pretty upset about this as i was reaaalllllyyyy looking forward to it. oh well, another couple of months won't kill me. but the moral of the story is, before you get someone's cooties, if they are coughing and not covering their mouth, yell at them (and possibly chuck something at their head). trust me, when you are on your plane, going on your vacay instead of sitting sick in bed, you'll be thanking me.

* morrissey - oh how i love his new album. it is soooooo good. like so good i need to see it in person! too bad the aragon sucks. i might have to investigate driving to milwaukee to see him.

*britney's back! - ok i just saw snippets of her rehearsals and her upcoming concert looks so good. i don't care how many music credibility points i lose by admitting i like her and some of her music. the show looks like it is going to be alot of fun. i kinda wish i had tickets now.....

that's all for now......

oscars part three
well i for one loved the new format to the oscars. i thought hugh jackman was great. i loved the musical numbers. and i especially loved loved loved the way they announced the actor awards. the way each previous award winner announced the nominee, in a intimate heartfelt way, just made the night for me. it was a good surprise to begin with and a great way to honor those actors who have done an outstanding job. so sweet!

now onto the clothes....(and can i mention again how much e sucked showing the clothes???)

the best
the best dressed for me of the night was kate winslet. she was elegant and wonderful.
the runners up? penelope cruz (she looked like a princess), taraji henson (she looked stunning and sleek), natalie portman (i loved the color and she looked beautiful) and sarah jessica parker (i am surprised at this one but she looked divine and the color was gorgeous! it was my 2nd most favorite dress of the night).
i also liked angie jolie (her green jewelry just popped), alica keys (i thought she looked like a modern day rita hayworth and i loved the color of the dress), and marion cotillard (it was old hollywood elegant). not that men really stand out like the women do on this night but i thought robert downey jr looked fantastic.
as did sean penn. and i liked tilda swinton, which i know alot of people hated.

the worst
hands down the worst for me was whoopi goldberg. just awful. there are no words how unflattering that dress was on her.
also quite bad in my opinion - sophia lauren (for some reason it reminded me of a toilet roll cover), mickey rourke (he was oozing grease. ew), lisa rinna (i didn't see her on tv but saw pics after and her face and hair were atrocious....the dress was ho hum but my god her face and hair looked bad!), and frieda pinto (i know alot of people liked this dress but i just thought it was not the right cut or color for her. and i would have liked to see some better jewelry on her.)

and kinda on the fence for me - in that i didn't like the dress but it wasn't bad enough to get on my worst dress list but it was close)
marissa tomei (that dress looked all wrinkly and i just didn't like it on the red carpet but i will admit from further away and in pictures it looked nice), miley cyrus (i actually loved this dress - thought the layering petals on the bottom were so pretty - but it was just too old a dress for her), and jessica biel (first off it looked like she got caught in the rain with her hair. and the dress should have been hemmed up a smidge. it looked like it was too long on her. i would have liked to see some shoe peeking through). i also sadly want to put heidi klum on here. her dress was fine but her hair, all slicked back looked a little odd. plus her jewelry was too much. with all those bracelets she had on (which were fine), she shouldn't have worn a bunch of jeweled grapes as earrings (or whatever else she wore). also why can't men shave and cut & wash their hair for the oscars? for shame.

oscars part two

wow, i am loving the way they are doing the oscars. i literally gasped when they brought out the 5 actresses to announce the winner for best supporting actress.... i don't know how they kept this a secret or managed everyone not to be on the red carpet but i am riveted. what a big improvement!!

oscars part one

i will blog about the clothes later but i have to say e!'s coverage of the oscars SUCKED!!! for some reason i do not understand at all, they refused to show the dresses. no scans of the outfits - wtf?!? i didn't even know that there was a bottom to several women's dresses until i watched channel 7's coverage. not only did e refuse to show the dresses but then when the did have a full view of the dress they blocked it with a pop up box with interviews. BOO! i a just disgusted with e's coverage. ruined one of the best parts of the night for me.....

i like lions but i can't take them home

there's a reason wild animals don't make good pets - because they are wild animals. i am sorry but that thought just keeps echoing in my head as i watch the news. and now, because someone didn't get that simple fact, an animal is dead and a person is in the hospital all messed up. not cool. if you want a chimpanzee or an alligator or whatever so much, just do everyone a favor and get yourself a stuffed animal version and cuddle with that. sigh....
